Aluminum Dip Brazing

Hi-Temp Brazing, an industry leader, has been specializing in aluminum dip brazing, precision sheet metal fabrication, and machining since 1973. They are one of the world’s few Nadcap accredited dip brazers. By using a Nadcap accredited processor, you can be assured that procedures, process controls, and documentation requirements meet the high standards required.  The advantage of brazing is since brazing does not melt the base metal of the joint, it allows much tighter control over tolerances and produces a clean joint without the need for secondary finishing.  Aluminum Dip Brazing can be used for many assemblies in various industries such as medical equipment, aviation, automotive, and electronics.

Aluminum Brazing- is a popular method to repair and create all sorts of parts for aluminum base metals. Brazing utilizes heat and metal to bond pieces of another metal together using a filler material.

Aluminum Dip Brazing-Dip brazing is the best form of aluminum brazing. In aluminum dip brazing the filler metal is basically 88% aluminum and 12% silicon. It allows for strong, uniform joining of multiple joints rapidly, inexpensively and even simultaneously.  Brazing joints that would be inaccessible by other methods are easily done with aluminum dip brazing. The joints that result are leak-tight and stronger than soldered joints. Dip Brazing is especially suited for aluminum because air is excluded which prevents the formation of oxides. Aluminum Dip Brazing also can minimize or eliminate distortion that may take place during normal welding leaving joints with a cleaner more finished look.

Examples of commonly used dip brazed assemblies include: x-ray housings, medical equipment, heat exchangers, water and pressure tight assemblies, and avionics housings. Hi-Temp is well acquainted with the quality necessary for these items.  We employ two methods of leak testing on dip brazed assemblies. The first and most commonly used is pressure testing and depending on the size, shape, and thickness of the part it is possible to pressure test as high as 400 PSI. The second is helium mass spectrometer leak detection which is often faster and safer.
