The thermal processes that take place during dip brazing result in a change in the hardness condition of the base metal of the brazed assembly. It is often desirable to use a post brazing heat-treating process to harden the assembly. A properly treated 6061aluminum assembly will normally return to a T4 condition after brazing and quenching. If the assembly requires heat treatment to a T6 condition this is easily achieved by heating the assembly per the instructions of either the drawing or AMS 2770 (Heat Treatment of Wrought Aluminum Alloy Parts).

Hi-Temp is approved to perform supplemental heat-treating of assemblies that we braze and maintains both AMS 2750 compliant calibrated ovens and ASTM E-18 calibrated hardness test equipment.
